- Tourism, Arts and Culture minister Tiong Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said those still using old MM2H application forms and deceiving applicants into paying unnecessary fees will “face severe consequences”.
PETALING JAYA (April 18): The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) knows that some Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) agents had engaged in the unethical practice.
Investigations revealed that some agents had “subleased their licenses to 'consultant companies,' which turned out to be shell entities without legitimate offices or contact numbers," Minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (pictured) said in his Facebook post on April 17, reported The Star.
Tiong added those still using old MM2H application forms and deceiving applicants into paying unnecessary fees will “face severe consequences”.
He “reiterated” the policy that agents are only permitted to charge fees after applications are approved and reminded agents “to be fully aware of the rules and conditions,” stated the same report.
Motac will soon introduce a screening process for agents and intermediaries associated handling MM2H scheme.
Tiong reminded all stakeholders that agents that fail to meet the new qualifications would not have their licenses renewed.
