KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 30): Comintel Corp Bhd has bagged a RM161.28 million contract to undertake the construction of two building blocks for a data centre project in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

Comintel said its wholly-owned subsidiary Binastra Builders Sdn Bhd accepted the letter of award from Exsim Jalil Link Sdn Bhd (EJL) on Wednesday.

The two blocks of building in Jalan Jalil Perkasa 1 comprise a seven-storey data centre and a five-storey data centre, the group added in a bourse filing.

"The contract is expected to provide an additional income stream for the group over the next two financial years," it said.

Comintel said its executive director Lee Seng Yong, who holds 9.62% shares in the company, also owns 5% of the shares in EJL through TRE Towers Holding Sdn Bhd.

However, Lee is not a director of EJL and therefore, the contract is not regarded as a related party transaction, the group said.

Comintel shares closed down one sen or 1.03% at 96 sen on Wednesday, with a market capitalisation of RM367.2 million.
